The 53rd ADDC rescheduled our usual monthly meeting in March to Saturday, March 14 in order to host a pre-convention summit at Hennesseys Manhattan Beach. The primary purpose of the summit was to assist new delegates in understanding what to expect and how to make an impact at their first convention. Points of procedure were explained regarding who can attend the caucuses, their purpose, and how to propose a resolution.
In addition, the group discussed several issues of interest to attendees, including Propositions 1a – e and efforts to amend California’s tax structure and majority vote requirements for budgets and new taxes.
Ted Lieu made a special guest appearance and answered questions from the crowd regarding Propositions 1a – e and addressed other items of interest. Rep. Lieu has filed to run for Attorney General in 2010, assuming that Jerry Brown will not run for reelection. See Rep. Lieu’s site, http://www.tedlieu.com/, for more information.
